Until purpose is discovered, existence has no meaning, for purpose is the source of fulfillment. – Myles Munroe
Pursuit of purpose isn’t just something that college seniors wrestle with. We all want to KNOW our purpose and how to fulfill that purpose. But God the Father is most concerned with who we are and what we’re becoming on the inside than what we can do for Him.
Dr. Myles Munroe has written more books about purpose than just about any other author I know. He is a veritable quote machine when it comes to our pursuit of purpose. Listen to a couple quotes and ask the Holy Spirit to speak with you about your purpose.
“Status without purpose is position without authority.”
“Life without purpose is time without meaning.”
“Keep your head and heart headed in the right direction, and you will not have to worry about your feet.”
“The source of purpose is the mind of the producer.”
“Purpose allows you to be yourself.”
I love all of these, but the last one really sums up all the significance found in discovering our purpose. We can be ourselves!!!!
If we could all know our purpose in life and then live our lives in such a way that people took notice and said of us, “Man, those Christians are so genuine and truly authentic.” The world, and the church, is looking for leaders that have integrity and live above reproach. This is what brings Him glory, if we remain humble.
When we know our purpose in life, we walk confidently. When we know our purpose we see life in vibrant color and no longer in black and white. When we know our purpose, we think thoughts that God the Father has spoken over us and in us. This isn’t always easy to do. We must fight our own thoughts that are often contrary to God’s thoughts. Listen to what the prophet Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Who doesn’t want to know their future? Aren’t you encouraged? Don’t let the enemy lie to you anymore about your past. We so often allow our failures in life to set us back, or worse yet, knock us completely off the tracks. God’s plans will not be thwarted, but we can make His job more difficult than it should be by listening to the enemy’s lies. What do I do next to walk in the purposes of God???
Jeremiah 29:12-14 (NIV)
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
There is such hope in this promise. No matter where you are now, no matter what you’ve done wrong in the past, God will find you and bring you back closer than before. Don’t give up, God loves you, but you need to pursue His purpose for your life.
Lord, help me to silence the enemy’s voice. Turn my heart and ears to your voice, your promises and your purpose for my life. I love you and ask you to turn my feet in the right direction and set my face like a flint.
Isaiah 50:7 (ESV)
7 But the Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
