DAY 08

pursue peace & know that God is actively involved

I recently had the opportunity to officiate the funeral of a loved one. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do considering the abrupt nature of it. While traveling, I was praying for God to give me a word of encouragement to give to the family and the word legacy came to my mind. According to legacy is defined as “anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor.” We spend our entire lives working to build a legacy that will remain. Sadly, too many people spend their time building for the wrong things or they leave their legacy up to chance. I believe that we have to take an active approach to those things that matter most. For example, I consider several things important in my life: My faith, my family, and my friends. I am actively involved in all three areas because I care for all of them. I believe that God is actively involved in our lives in the same manner. We have a God that is involved in every aspect of our lives and in our world. If we believe that, then no matter what vocation we have we will have left the legacy He wanted us to leave.

We are born-we work, and we die. Is this the purpose of life?

Job 23:8-9, ““Behold, I go forward but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him; When He acts on the left, I cannot behold Him; He turns on the right, I cannot see Him.”

Does God really care about what we do with our lives?

Is He actively involved in our lives? I believe that He is as active in our lives as we both allow and perceive. Ponder the prophet Job and everything that happened to Him. He lost everything. Yet, he did not lose his hope that God was still actively involved in his life. This verse is a picture of the activity of God in our lives. The implications of this small portion of scriptures and the context in which it was pulled from indicate a God that is sovereign. If we look at the life of Job we understand the importance of believing that God is sovereign and we will allow that belief to help lead our lives in any vocation we choose.

When you know that He is For You, you change the way you live

Pursue Acts

Grab a pen and paper and take some time to journal your thoughts, using these guided questions:

We are born-we work, and we die. Is this the purpose of life?

Does God really care about what we do with our lives?

In what ways is God actively involved in your life?

How can knowing that God is involved in your life effect the way that you live?

When you are ready pray this Prayer:

Lord, Here I am before you. I ask that I may see you in the in the details of everyday life. Lord, that I may see your handy work and your orchestration. I recognize that you love me that I am your child. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by you. You neither leave me nor forsake me. Lord I ask that I may receive it and walk it out today one step at a time.
